Title: Souls Complete

Hilde lay in the barren hospital room; machines hooked up to her, keeping her fragile body alive, her mind wandering. She had infiltrated the Libra, and acquired important information for Duo, the pilot with the laughing eyes, the braided joker. Ever since she had first met him, when she was an Oz officer, he was badmouthing the organization, and it?s ways. He had always drawn her attention, since that incident, he was the reason she had lost everything because of one stupid mistake. If it had not been for him, she would have remained in Oz, fighting against the people she wanted to protect, she would have become a traitor to the cause her parents fought for. Everything had changed, her life had turned topsy-turvy when Duo Maxwell had entered it, but she never wanted her life to go back to the way it was.
Her pale skin stood out in stark contrast to her dark hair, her sooty lashes brushing her porcelain cheeks. To Duo she looked like a fallen angel, he mentally cursed his stupidity as he watched her fragile form as her body labored for each stolen breath. She had narrowly escaped dieing in the mobile suit, and now each breath she took was fought for, her body being supported by the machines, which hummed quietly in the background. He knew it had been dangerous getting to know the German girl, but her vivacious nature had called to him. He had known though that he was risking her life by getting to know her, everything he treasured was eventually taken from him. It had been that way all his life, first his parents, then solo, then Father Maxwell and Sister Helen, the list just carried on. She was a fighter though, he knew that, and the others kept on reassuring him that she would pull through; even Wufei had unfurled enough to say she was strong.
?Duo??
?Yes, Quatre??
?We have to go now.?
?I know.?
?Don?t worry she?ll pull through.?
?How did you know??
?The worry is plain to see in your eyes, she?s strong Duo, she?ll pull through.?
Without another word, the two pilots left, the Peacemillion, and Hilde continued to dream, her thoughts on the past, completely oblivious to what was happening around her.
Hilde found herself in a dense forest, the gurgle of a stream sounding from nearby. She was dress in a flowing white gown, her hair long and cascading down her back. Laughter was coming from the direction of the stream, healthy filling laughter, not the cynical laugh she had heard since birth. Someone other than her family members was laughing. She made her way through the dense shrubbery, which parted for her, her dress remaining immaculate.
The stream pooled into a natural rock pool, fanned by large shrubs, voices still unrecognizable. In the pool was a man surrounded by adoring fairies, the cause for his laughter, his hair was a rich toffee color, longer than her own, and contained in a tight and alluring braid. His body was well sculpted, his muscles standing out almost in bas-relief. His skin held a nice golden tone, his eyes hidden from view, but his lips presenting a very kissable sight. Hilde?s heart contracted when she saw him, her mind suddenly becoming invaded by his presence. Somewhere, in some isolated corner of her mind, something whispered that this was all a dream, but Hilde couldn?t help but falling in love with the vision before her.
Almost as if he sensed her presence, he graced her with a view of his eyes, a soft violet color, and an impish grin on his lips. He motioned for her to join him in the rock pool, motioning repeatedly, after a moment?s hesitation Hilde decided to join the handsome man, using the bodysuit under the dress as her swimsuit she climbed into the pool. Noting with relief that the man wore boxers, that he had some dignity. He smiled as he noticed the relief evident on her face, and the way that the body suit clung to her sculpted body.
The voice in Hilde?s mind, resurfaced once she had immersed herself in the pool, it whispered in her ear that she had met this man before, that she knew him. How could she know him she argued back, this a dream, this man was created by my subconscious to keep me company. He is my dream man, she argued back. He is based on someone you know, someone you have deep feelings for, the voice whispered back. An image of a dark clothed and braided figure with laughing eyes appeared in her mind, someone she knew but couldn?t recognize. She was abruptly brought back into her fantasy world when the man pulled her into his arms, his strong arms holding her close to his lean body. An aroma of cinnamon wafted around them, cinnamon and lilies, upon closer inspection.
Hilde contented herself to lie in the circle of his arms, her fingers lazily playing with his hair, as his breath warmed her neck. She was at peace in that moment, her mind clear, everything playing back in slow motion. Her heart to heart conversation with the former queen of the world, her desperate dash from the Libra to the Peacemillion, being ambushed by the two mobile dolls which held the battle information from two of the Gundam pilots, the blasting she received from Duo and then the painless sleep which still held her in it?s grips. Her expression faltered though as the image of Duo contained to run from her mental grasp, the complete details running with his image, all she had were bits and pieces; the conversation with Relena Peacecraft intact, her offer of a place to stay when the war ended resounding through her mind.
The image of her fantasy world slowly faded from her mind, the strong comforting arms slowly disappeared. The painless haze slowly receding as Hilde was greeted by aches and pains in places she didn?t know could hurt. Voices surrounded her, the room she lay in way barren of decoration, the walls the standard white, outside the window the sky was a beautiful baby blue, trees surrounded the area and bird song could be heard. This was not the Peacemillion her tired mind affirmed, the voices were getting closer, the voices of strangers, one sounded vaguely familiar.
?Miss Hilde, I?m glad to see you?re awake.?
?Miss Relena??
?Yes, it?s me. I came to offer you a proposition, I consider you a dear friend, though we have only had a chance to speak in passing. You see the mansion gets lonely, now with the excitement of the war over with, thank god, the mansion is going to be very lonely. I would say we are both in need of a friend, what would you say to living with me and accompanying me on my trips and such.?
?I couldn?t impose.?
?No please impose, Hilde, it would mean a lot to me. I don?t have any friends my own age other than you, and we most probably won?t ever see much of each other, that?s why I?ve brought this offer. You wouldn?t be able to work for awhile any way in your condition.?
?You?ve really thought this through.?
?Yes, I have.?
?I?ll agree then.?
?Thank you.?
For the next six years, Hilde and Relena became inseparable, the best of friends, akin to sisters. Hilde ran her own computer business, one that traveled with her, over the years she had amassed a sizable sum of money, enough to set up a headquarters for her business wherever she wanted. Never of the girls had seen the pilots up close since the end of the war, once in awhile they would see Quatre at the political parties but neither ever got a chance to speak to the Arabian boy. A major party had been arranged for Relena?s 21st birthday though; the pilots had been tracked down and invited to the big bash. Hilde hoped to see Duo and Relena hoped to see her hero Heero.
By the time the party was about to being, girls were ready, they were dressed, their makeup was done, everything was perfect. Relena wore a shimmering silver dress, which was figure hugging in all the right places, presenting the world with a glimpse of the woman she had matured into. Hilde wore a long white flowing gown, her dark hair hanging loosely down her back, with the odd braid here and there, the outfit was familiar to her as if she had worn it before, but she knew she couldn?t have because the dress had been specially made. They stood by the door accepting guests, being cordial, eagerly anticipating the outcome of their bet, whether the Gundam pilots would show up or not. Hilde had said the Quatre would probably show but no one else would, Relena didn?t doubt their attendance.
Half way into the party people were still arriving, Relena and Hilde having long disappeared from their posts at the door to mingle through the crowd. Hilde suddenly felt strong arms encircle her waist from behind, arms, which felt familiar to her. She was standing outside on the balcony the wind had been whipping her long hair about her. The vision she displayed was something to be marveled; the white dress whipping against her legs in stark contrast to her dark hair. The aroma of cinnamon and lilies assaulted her sense triggering a vague memory. Being in her fantasy world, a gorgeous man, long toffee hair, violet eyes, laughing eyes, cinnamon and roses, strong arms, beautifully sculpted body, the thoughts just kept on assaulting her tired mind. His warm breath warming her neck, it seemed so familiar but that had to have been a dream, nothing more.
?My dream angel,? the man whispered.
?I?m not an angel,? she whispered back, her mind reeling.
?Yes, you are. I?ve seen you in my dreams, wearing that exact same dress, I remember holding you in my arms like this before.?
?I?ve dreamt of this too, Duo, when I was recovering from the incident with Libra, is this real??
?I hope it is. I?m sorry I didn?t come for you when it ended, I didn?t want to risk loosing you, but now that I?ve seen you again, I?m never going to let go. Never, I will forever hold onto you, my light in the darkness.?
?And I will forever hold onto you, my dream prince.?
She turned around in his arms, their eyes locking, her lips twitching into a sly smile. As she stood there her arms wound around his neck as his wrapped tighter around her waist, their world narrowed until they were the only things in it. They were found later by an ecstatic Relena, still lip locked in an intimate embrace. Hilde had finally found the man of her dreams, her happiness would forever be complete. Her soul was finally complete as was his, together they would never feel empty or lonely again.
